Modi tweets #selfieonpot to promote toilet use among Indians

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today took his penchant for selfies to a new level by tweeting a selfie from the toilet seat to prompt Indians into using toilets.

“Flaunt your washrooms, post your #selfieonpot. Let’s relieve our great India from the greatest menace of open defecation.” Modi tweeted.

TWEETHe promised to tweet a #selfieonpot everyday from different corners of the world and urged Indians to join the #selfieonpot campaign by posting pictures from their washrooms.

Modi, world famous for his love of selfies and world tours, is the poster boy for Swacch Bharat Mission.

“Let’s make our washrooms a fashion statement,” he said in another tweet.

Modi’s selfie generated instant response with people flooding the cyberspace by their toilet selfies.

“Thanks to Modiji, I can finally show off the crimson tiles and my Benelave faucet” a user Ruchika tweeted.

However, many users tweeted selfies from mustard fields and railway stations, praising the open air ambience.

“Khula ASSman, Khula Khula Jahan, Na Koi Bandish Na Koi Diwaar” one Rajpal tweeted along with his selfie.

Raheel Khursheed, Head – News, Politics, Govt @TwitterIndia told Dapaan that the hashtag #selfieonpot has taken twitter by storm.

“Modi’s #selfieonpot is getting popular across India and is expected to break all records,” Khursheed said. “More than 60 per cent of his followers have re-tweeted his #selfieonpot and and posting their’s too.”
