Modi offers selfie with Mehbooba as CBM

selfmodiReaching out to its estranged ally in J&K, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today offered to take a selfie with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti as a Confidence Buidling Measure (CBM) to mend the relations.

The major policy decision with far reaching consequences comes after Mehbooba demanded CBM from the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) as a precondition to government formation, following her father’s death.

Elucidating the importance of the CBM, minister of state at Prime Minister’s Office, Jitendra Prasad described the step taken by Modi as inclusive.

“Selfie is the highest honour Modi Ji can bestow on anyone, that is why it is usually reserved for the prime minister himself,” Prasad said.  “Our prime minister firmly believes in the slogan – Mera Haath, Sabke Saath.”

Prasad declined to clarify if the slogan referred to Modi’s penchant for hugs and selfies.

The PDP responded positively to Modi’s offer and reverted to describing him as a ‘statesman prime minister’.

“Modi has once again proved that he is a statesman prime minister and a visionary,” PDP spokesman Naeem Akhtar told Dapaan. “We feel humbled by this CBM and hope modalities to select the location for selfie would soon be finalized.”

Modi’s move is aimed at pacifying the annoyed PDP president, who so far feels let down by him.

BJP has nominated its national general secretary Ram Madhav to finalize the location for selfie with PDP. However, PDP is yet to nominate a leader who would represent the party in the selfie parleys.

Sources in PDP said, the party’s previous nominee Haseeb Drabu has been kept out of the picture so far.

“Our stand explained by Mehbooba Ji in the party meet is crystal clear that the selfie has to be taken in Kashmir and that Modi Ji has to accommodate Tassaduq Mufti, president’s brother in the frame,” PDP leader Waheed-ur-Rehman Para told Dapaan.
