Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor G C Murmu today lauded the health department for setting up pathetic quarantines and isolation wards for COVID-19 patients and attendants, stating that horrifying photographs from the hospitals have helped in confining people inside their homes.

Murmu said compared to police batons and FIRs, the photographs of pathetic wards have been more effective in keeping people indoors.

“Even though police is doing its job honestly by beating the shit out of people and filing cases but we must admit, it is the pictures from the hospital that are actually working,” the LG said, in a note of appreciation to the administrators of Srinagar’s Chest Disease hospital.

Murmu said he was hopeful that other hospitals and quarantine centres in J&K must be adhering to the protocol set up by the CD hospital.

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Shahid Choudhary, who handed over the LG’s appreciation to CD hospital also acknowledged that pictures and horrifying stores of treatment to patients and their contacts in the hospital have helped create the scare government wanted.

“After seeing images from isolation wards residents now afraid of going to washrooms in their own lawns. Now that is what we wanted,” Choudhary tweeted. “Always read a picture is worth 1000 words, no, it is worth a thousand kicks on butt. WHO said that.”

Interestingly Choudhary’s latest Twitter bio describes him as a ‘Vet dealing with a human pandemic’.
